Local communities and their role in SAR.
Local communities are often the first โ and sometimes the only โ responders when incidents occur at sea.
FHAS is working in the Comoros with local actors, including fishermen who regularly respond to emergencies near shore. What we are seeing on the ground reflects a broader reality observed in many regions.

Strengthening their capacities and better integrating these local dynamics into SAR frameworks is a key part of FHASโ ongoing work.
